FAQ
About who the dresses are for, the occasions, and how they are made.
What age are the dresses for?
They are baby dresses and ceremony dresses for newborns.
What occasions are the dresses for?
They are for a baby’s first occasions after birth, such as omiyamairi (a newborn’s first shrine visit) and photo sessions.
When is omiyamairi?
It is usually around one month after birth, but it varies by region, family and the baby’s health.
Can the dress be worn with a ceremonial kimono?
At omiyamairi, a ceremonial kimono (iwaigi) is often draped over the baby dress. Please ask us about wearing it with a PERLE dress.
Are the dresses made to order?
Yes. Each dress is made after we receive your order.
How much does a dress cost?
It depends on the specifications, so we send a quote after we talk with you. See the dresses page for a guide.
How long does it take to arrive?
See the dresses page for the lead time. If the date of the omiyamairi or the photo session is set, please tell us when you contact us.
How do I choose a size?
We ask about the day the dress will be worn and the baby’s age on that day, and decide together. See the dresses page for the sizes we make.
Can I order a dress as a gift for my grandchild?
Yes. We take orders from grandparents as a gift to celebrate the birth, and we can deliver to the parents’ home. If you would like noshi gift wrapping, please tell us when you contact us.
How does ordering work?
After your inquiry, we discuss the specifications, size and delivery date, and send you a quote. We start making the dress once the order is confirmed and paid.
